Students will explore the physiology, metabolism, and reproductive biology of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Topics will include the structure and function of macromolecules, theoretical and mechanistic aspects of metabolism, bioenergetics, and signal transduction. A comparative and theoretical coverage of basic aspects of cell structure and function common to most biological systems, including integration of cell theory, metabolism and gene action. This course will introduce students to the theory and application of many of the methods currently used in clinical and research immunology.
