III.7 CARD ACCESS

Objective

To allow entry into card access halls if a resident loses
their JAC card.

Policy

If a resident loses their JAC Card during normal working hours instruct them to go to Card Services as soon as possible, deactivate the lost card in the system and have a new card issued. If a resident loses their JAC Card after normal working hours you will issue them one of the Temporary Access Cards from your key box.

Procedure

1.Hall staff will inform the resident to log onto www.jmu.edu/cardctr to deactivate their lost card.

2.If the resident does not have access to a computer, instruct him/her to call Campus Police and they will deactivate their card.

3.You can then sign them out a Temporary Access Card for them to use till the next working day. You will then fill out your Temporary Access Card Log with the date, residents name, Student ID#, and the card #.

4.You will instruct them that they can use this card for entry purposes only, (there is not a meal plan on them) and they are to turn this card into Card Services the very next working day and receive their replacement JAC card.

5.Call the Business Operations office at x87576 and leave a message with the Temporary Access Card # issued to the resident. This will let them know to track this card with Card Services.

6.We will pick the card up from Card Services and return it to you to put back into your key box to reuse.

7. Once you have received the card, mark returned on the log so that person will no longer be responsible for the card.
