The DLX-5200 is a quick capture reader for dining, retail, or student activity locations (such a the recycle mug flag). The DLX-5200 can perform meal, points, and cash transactions including split tender sales. The DLX-5200 has 16 programmable keys and reports on daily sales, clerk sales and product sales.

 

The following is a list of possible messages that you might see on the screen of the DLX-5200. When the message pertains to an error a possible solution will be given on how to fix the error. Keep in mind when you see XX this stands for any number.

Operator Display Condition Solution
  Display is Blank, reader is not responding.

•Adjust the display's contrast. There is an adjustment knob on the back of the reader.

•Type "0" then press <ENTER>. This will add $0.00 to the current transaction. The reader will display the ammount due

-->> Register is on-line and ready to accept transactions. A clerk is logged in. N/A
<<-- Reader is off-line, but ready to accept transactions. A clerk is logged in

•Continue to ring sales through
•Check all connections
•If all connections are hooked but unit is still off-line contact Card Services
•All off-line transactions will upload once the unit comes back on-line

You are at the main menu. The clerk is logged out If you ever see this screen hit enter. If you are in the main menu but do not see EXIT use the 8 (scroll up) or the 0 (scroll down) until you see exit and hit enter. Continue to do this until you have gotten back to the Clerk or Operations Card screen.
Balance Low
[Meal/Point] Deduct: XX
[Patron balance]
Patron had enough funds to pay for the transaction. Patron balance is low based on the configuration of their point plan. Not really a problem. You may want to tell the patron that their balance is low in case they want to add more funds to their card.
Can't REFUND Now A refund can not be performed when items have been entered. You must either complete the transaction that you are currently in or you must void the sale completely in order to do a refund.
Can't Void Line Clerk is not allowed to void a line transaction. To void the line you must swipe the Operations card first then select the void function that you wish to use.
Can't void Sale Clerk is not allowed to void the sale. To void the sale you must swipe the Operations card first then select the void function that you wish to use.
Check Printer The DLX is trying to send information to the printer, but the printer has not responded. If there is no printer with this unit the clerk has possible hit the print receipt button. To clear this hold shift and clear at the same time. You may need to do this a couple of time before it takes. Alternately if a printer is installed check to make sure the printer has paper, that it is turned on =, and that all covers are closed correctly. If all of the above do not work contact Card Services
Clerk Card or Operations Card The Clerk is logged out Read the clerk card to initiated the sales mode process
Complete Sale Complete current transaction You must complete the current transaction before you can proceed to any other functions.

Denied
Balance Low
[patron balance]

The patron's balance is low The patron does not have enough funds to pay for the current transaction. Ask patron to provide another method of payment.
Denied The transaction was not permitted

This can be due to:
•The patron has already used the meal punch for that period
•Not enough funds (meals or points) in the patrons balance
•For this SACS (Student Activity Control System) activity, the patron does not have this privilege

Due - XX.XX Patron owes the amount due. Perhaps the meal equivalence amount was deducted from the transaction, but it did not cover the entire transaction

•The patron still owes the amount due. Type the amount due and read the Patron's Card

•The patron still owes the amount due. Perform a <CODE> Function, type the amount due and read the Patron's Card.

Finish Trans First Complete the current transaction. You must complete the current transaction before proceeding.
Illegal Card The card is not of the right type. •Try to read the card again
•If other cards work in this unit and the card is a valid JACard send the Patron to Card Services to have their card re-encoded
•If every patron card that is read in this reader has the Illegal Card message then log out the current clerk and log back into sales mode with a different Clerk Card
Inquire You pressed the <INQUIRE> Function

•Read the patron's card to inquire the patron's balance.

•Press <CLEAR> if you did not want to use this function

Invalid Tender The Charge key was pressed This is not a valid form of tender hit <CLEAR> and select a different type of tender.

Max Clerks
Run Z Report

A maximum of 8 clerks may log into a reader. If a 9th logs in this error will appear

•Run the daily Z report, the proceed to log in this clerk

•Use on of the 8 clerk cards that are already in use.

Activity participation response where a "NO" or "YES" is displayed depending on the activity status in the patron's account. Deny or permit the transaction depending on your application.
No account Deny the transaction •Account number on the card does not match an account number in the system.
•Patron does not have an account in the system
•Patron is at the wrong location. The system search path only allows selected plans to be used at this location.

No Breakfast
No Brunch
No Lunch
No Dinner

Deny transaction because the patrons plan is not valid during this meal period. If you feel this is in error contact Card Services.
No Keyed Acct # Clerk is not allowed to key in an account number to complete a sale.

•Read the card instead
•Read the Operations Card first then key in the account number
•If Clerk is supposed to have this ability contact card services to have this functionality programmed in to your register.

No Weekends Deny the Transaction Patron is not allowed to eat meals on the weekends.
No Authorized Deny the Transaction •The patron may be using this card a a restricted location
•Patron account is not active
•Plan is not valid
•No meal in progress at this location
•Attempting a "0" transaction
Operations Card Reader Requires the Operations Card to be read Read the Operations card to complete the function or press <CLEAR> to proceed without the function.

Run Daily Z

Appears when there is a daily Z report in the terminal that is from when the terminal was a different location. Run the daily Z report to obtain the report for the other location.
Uploading Appears after being off-line Off-line transactions are being sent to the system to be processed. This happens automatically is no other activity is being done on the terminal. Will continue to upload until all transaction have been sent or until the machine is logged out.
Verify You pressed the <VERIFY> key

•Read the patron card to verify the encoded account number and the Lost Card Code

•Press <CLEAR> if you did not want to use this function.

Void Aborted While in the void sub-menu, the <ENTER> key press while abort was selected. If a void is needed simply start the void over again
