Resume Information and Review Opportunities
Resume Writing Workshops - Nervous about writing your resume? Don’t sweat it, this workshop will teach you step by step, everything you need to know! This is a great starting point as you're trying to put a resume together. It isn't necessary to bring a resume to the workshop, but do bring any questions you may have. No need to sign up in advance- see the CAP calendar for upcoming dates.
Resume Roadshow - Need to have your resume reviewed? Make a pit stop at the Resume Roadshow! The advantage of the Resume Roadshow is that we bring our services to you- offered all over campus throughout the semester, these events are designed to be in convenient locations where you can stop in and have your resume reviewed- no need to sign up in advance. Make sure to bring 2 copies of your resume with you. No need to sign up in advance- see the CAP calendar for upcoming dates.
Resume Roundup - Resume Roundup is an event where an employer reviews your resume in a relaxed environment with a country-western theme. This event is only offered in the Fall semester. You don't need an appointment, just walk in during the hours of the event. You'll be assigned to meet with an employer representative for approximately 15 minutes, and receive helpful feedback on your resume from the employer's point of view. Past employer participants have included Deloitte, CGI, Ernst & Young, American Woodmark, Target, Johnson Lambert & Co., KPMG, Grafton, Inc., and Apex Systems. Every year this event has been a tremendous hit for both students and employers alike. No need to sign up in advance- see the CAP calendar for upcoming dates.
Individual Resume Review Appointments - Set up a 30 minute individual resume review appointment by calling the CAP office at 540-568-6555. If this is your first draft you'll meet with one of our peer educators, and if it's a final draft you'll meet with a CAP advisor. Make sure to bring 2 copies of your resume with you.
