Practice Speed Networking Event:
- Learn how to present your "60 second" elevator speech* to employers, and prepare for the Spring Career & Internship Fair. Learn more about what "Speed Networking" is here. Facilitated by Mike Ogilvie of Ignite Speed Networking in collaboration with JMU Career & Academic Planning. To participate in the event, you'll need to register on Recruit-A-Duke. Go to the Student Login page, sign in with your username and password, then click on "Fairs / Info Sessions / Workshops" at the top of the screen, click the "Workshops" tab, click "Practice Speed Networking", and then click the RSVP button. RSVPing is mandatory and is limited to the first 60 students on a first come, first serve basis. The deadline to register for this event is January 27th at 5pm.

How to Get a Federal Job:
- Learn how to create a federal resume and answers to such questions as what is a KSA? And what is a GS level? You'll have the opportunity to learn strategies on how to effectively navigate usajobs.gov for applying to these opportunities as well.

Internships 101:
- Internships 101 is a program given by students for students. In this workshop, the Career & Academic Planning Resource Center Peers will address:
- What is an internship?
- How do you find an internship?
- Personal student experiences with internships.
- Becoming familiar with print and online resources.
- Where to go for additional help on resume writing, interviewing, and networking.
The workshop will also include demonstrations on Recruit-a-Duke, internship and international databases, and the JMU Alumni Network.
Learn from an Intern:
- Gain first hand information from JMU Student Ambassador for the Partnership for Public Service and an Intern with the Department of Homeland Security, Courtney Robinson, on how to navigate the usajobs.gov website, create your federal resume, write a KSA and other valuable tips to land a federal career or internship.

Undeclared Expo:
- Undeclared Expo is an event for undeclared students who are in the process of choosing a major. Advisors from the office of Career and Academic Planning will: assess where you are in the major decision making process, provide appropriate information, and connect you with decision making programs or interventions as needed. - Kaplan Test Prep - Free practice tests!
- Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, a division of Kaplan Inc., will hold a free LSAT, MCAT, GRE, PCAT, DAT, or NCLEX practice test event for prospective graduate school applicants. The event is aimed at gauging students' test-taking strengths and weaknesses--in a stimulated testing environment--prior to the real experience. Students interested in taking a practice GMAT can do so online through the website below.
In addition to the free practice test, Kaplan experts will provide an overview of the exam and its role in the admissions process. Each participant will also receive a detailed performance analysis after test day, as well as strategies to help them prepare for the test.
