Oc-Campus Interviews

What Are On-Campus Interviews?

Some of the employers who post job or internship positions on Recruit-A-Duke (RAD) also schedule one or more days to come to campus to interview JMU students for those positions.  These On-Campus Interviews take place in the Interview Center within the Career & Academic Planning suite on the 3rd floor of the Student Success Center at JMU.

Sign up Now

  1. To see a list of on-campus interviews you qualify for, go to the Job and Internships Postings page in Recruit-A-Duke, click on Advanced Search (under the search button), and select “Interviews You Qualify For” from the “Show Me” dropdown.
  2. Click on a position to see more details.  On the detailed description page, click "Apply" in the upper right to submit required documents.  Make sure to follow all instructions, which may include applying on the company website as well.
  3. Watch for an email from Recruit-A-Duke if you have been invited to schedule an interview. You can also check the status of your application anytime in the Schedule Interviews section of your RAD account.
  4. If you are offered an interview, sign up for a time slot in RAD as early as possible (instructions: Schedule an On-Campus Interview). These time slots can fill up, so you may want to make note of the Sign-Up Start Date in the position description, so that you don't miss a chance to interview if you miss the email.  Receiving an invitation from an employer to interview does not guarantee you an interview slot.

Policies and Participation Agreement

Be sure to review JMU’s On-Campus Recruiting Policies and Participation Agreement, because your rights can be terminated for infringement of these policies, such as no-showing for interviews or falsifying information in your application.

What if there aren’t a lot of positions for my major?

On-Campus Interviews are not the only positions on Recruit-A-Duke.  To see a full list of jobs you qualify for, go to the Job and Internships Postings page, click on Advanced Search, and select “Jobs You Qualify For” from the “Show Me” dropdown. Approximately 1800 jobs and nearly 500 internships are posted on Recruit-A-Duke at any given time, with hundreds of positions' application windows closing any given month.  So don’t wait until the end of the semester to start looking for a job or internship.

Practice Interviewing

It's a good idea to practice interviewing before the real thing.  We have a great option for practicing your interview skills:

  • InterviewStream - Practice interviewing with a webcam from the comfort of your own home. InterviewStream provides thousands of pre-recorded questions for you to respond to. After recording your interview, you can watch it again or send to others for feedback.
