What is the Resource Center?
The Career & Academic Planning Resource Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Success Center. Everyone is welcome to visit the Resource Center, including JMU students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
In the Resource Center you can research majors, learn how to write resumes and cover letters, or conduct internship, job, or graduate school research.
Career Educator Walk-In Hours
Career Educators, who are trained peer educators, are available to assist you at these times for the Fall 2015 semester:
- Mondays 1-3pm
- Wednesdays 1-3pm
- Thursdays 1-3pm
Career Educators can help with:
- How to use Recruit-A-Duke
- How to declare a major
- First draft resume reviews
- Using the CAP website, including tools like FOCUS and the Career Guide to JMU Majors
To access the Resource Center, just enter the Career & Academic Planning office through room SSC 3210 and ask at the front desk for directions.
Books in the Resource Center
The Resource Center features a library of over 350 career development books on a variety of topics. You can review our complete collection of books on LibraryThing, or a sampling from our collection below.
The Resource Center offers a large screen television for presentations and six computers for career and major related research. Wifi and armchairs also make the Resource Center a great place to bring a laptop or tablet to work. Stop by and see us!
