Decision-Making Programs

There isn't a test that can tell you what career or major you should pursue, but there are resources to help you narrow down the best options for you. These Career and Academic Planning resources include... Decision-Making Programs

Major & Career Decisions Program (MCDP)
Need some help choosing a career path or major? Don't struggle on your own! The Major & Career Decisions Program (MCDP) is a workshop series designed to help you learn about your interests, work values, personality, and abilities and how they relate to majors and careers. We can also help you identify resources to explore academic and career options and gather helpful information on specific careers.

The group size for each workshop is 1 to 4 students, so you'll receive individualized attention in an informal environment. Workshops last about an hour, and are offered at a variety of times each week so they're easy to fit into your busy schedule. You can do 1 or 2 of the workshops or all 5, depending on what you need to feel comfortable making a decision.

To get started, everyone attends an introductory session called MCDP 101. Call 568-6555 or come by the Career and Academic Planning reception desk in Wilson 301 to sign up.

Career & Life Planning Class (IS 202)
Get academic credit while you learn about yourself and explore your options. IS 202 is a 1 credit, block course (offered both blocks, each semester). Most sections are restricted to freshmen and sophomores. The course helps students to gather personal and career information used to decide upon a career and/or academic direction. Interactive activities and assignments assist students in clarifying interests, work values, skills and personality strengths. A special section is offered in the spring to juniors and seniors; this section focuses more on job and internship topics. Check e-campus for course availability.
