Week Date Event
1 May 17-23 Sunday May 17 - Students arrive, move in to dorm.  Dinner for REU students and mentors at Taste of Thai, 6:30pm.

Monday May 18
- Orientation for REU students,
9-11:30am in Burruss 336, breakfast provided.  At 11:30 am mentors will make short presentations on their research, pizza lunch provided.

Thursday May 21
- Leadership and Teambuilding Workshop, led by Drs. Sylvia Nadler and Judy Dilts, 9am-12pm in Taylor 306, followed by lunch.

2 May 24-30
Monday May 25 - Disk Golf at Westover Park, Harrisonburg, 3pm.

Thursday May 28 - Microscopy workshop starting in Burruss 044 from 9am-12pm am led by Dr. Alex Bannigan.
3 May 31-
June 6
Monday, June 1Genomics Workshop from 9am-12pm led by Drs. Steve Cresawn, Jon Monroe and  Dr. Louise Temple, lunch provided.
4 June 7-13
Monday, June 8 - Ethics Workshop at Bridgewater College led by Emily Abdoler, 9am-1pm.

Thursday, June 11 - Seminar by Walter Moos, SRI, 4pm. "Pioneering Mitochondrial Medicine:  A Merger of Science and Business."

5 June 14-20
Friday, June 19 - Workshop on graduate school with Amanda Wisz (REU '07) and Sean Barron (JMU '05), and Sarah Thomas (JMU '08, REU '07) from 9:30-11:30 in 031 Burruss.  Lunch povided.
6 June 21-27
Wednesday, June 24 - Kline's Dairy Bar trip at 4pm.
7 June 28-July 4
Wednesday, July 1 - "REU's Got Talent" 6 PM, location TBA.

Thursday, July 2 - Poster-making workshop - 9:30-noon.
8 July 5-11
Wednesday, July 8Workshop on Bioethics lead by Virginia Tech professor Dr. Doris Zallen from 12-4 PM at EMU.  Title: "To Test or Not to Test."
9 July 12-18
Tuesday, July 14 - Canoe trip - details TBA.
10 July 19-25 Thursday, July 23 - Poster session and Keynote address - Dr. Andy Johnson, NIH/Oxford Biomedical Research Scholar. "Themis is a member of a new metazoan gene family and is required for thymocyte development."

Saturday,
July 25 - Students depart.
