Master's Degree Checklist and deadlines

1. Choose committee members and complete committee approval form with signatures. Committee should be 2-3 faculty in addition to your mentor. Establish a plan for regular meetings with your committee.

- BEFORE ENROLLING IN BIO 700 (THESIS)

2. Submit proposal to committee for review (See Thesis Proposal Guidelines )

- DUE DATE TO BE NEGOTIATED WITH ADVISOR AND COMMITTEE

3. Submit approved proposal with coversheet and signatures to Graduate Director

- DUE SECOND FRIDAY IN FEBRUARY

4. Submit application for second-year assistantship (if applicable)

- DUE SECOND FRIDAY IN FEBRUARY

5. Department presentation of proposal

- SPRING SEMESTER IN FIRST YEAR (Schedule with seminar co-ordinator)

6. Department presentation of research progress

- FALL SEMESTER IN SECOND YEAR

7. Application to graduate

- SEMESTER OF GRADUATION, ACCORDING TO GRADUATE SCHOOL DEADLINE

8. Attend thesis formatting workshop

9. Schedule dates for submission of thesis drafts with advisor 

10. Schedule presentation and defense of thesis with committee and seminar co-ordinator at least 7 days before Graduate School's thesis submission deadline 

11. Give thesis to committee

- AT LEAST 7 DAYS BEFORE DEFENSE

12. Presentation and defense of thesis 

- AT LEAST 7 DAYS BEFORE GRADUATE SCHOOL THESIS DEADLINE

13. Make revisions to thesis required by committee

14. Submit thesis approval form with signatures to Graduate School

15. Submit thesis electronically to Graduate Director and library

16. Thesis advisor submits comprehensive assessment (defense) results to the Graduate Director

17. Attend graduate graduation!!
