2002 General Obligation Bond Projects

Improve Handicap Accessibility -- $1.8 million

The work proposed under this project will affect buildings across campus and continue JMU's commitment to bring its facilities into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.     Many of the university's older facilities do not meet current ADA guidelines.  Without funds for targeted accessibility renovations, the university will continue its noncompliance status.  Noncompliance not only exposes JMU to legal liabilities, but also means it will be unable to fully meet the needs and expectations of Virginia's handicapped citizens.
