Justin Constantine ('92)

Advocate for wounded veterans

After being critically injured in Iraq by a sniper's bullet, Maj. Justin Constantine awoke to join an unexpected brotherhood — soldiers wounded in war. Taking his experience and recognizing the difficulties wounded warriors often face as they rejoin American society, Justin, with the support of his wife Dahlia, developed a T-shirt emblazoned ”Iraq and Back.“ The shirt broke barriers for returning vets, and sales of the shirts benefit several charities that support returning veterans. As former counsel for the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, this courageous attorney has dedicated his professional life to helping fellow veterans. Justin is a shining example of JMU's spirit to change the world.

”I married an amazing woman, have met tons of great people, and I am doing a lot for Wounded Warriors that I wouldn’t have been doing otherwise.“
