Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the city of Harrisonburg, this Center is one of eight regional service centers established by Governor Jim Gilmore and sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education to assist public schools in raising the levels of student achievement and meeting state accreditation standards. 

In partnership with James Madison University, the Region 5 Center offers a multitude of services to public schools in west-central Virginia including leadership development, faculty and staff development, and technical assistance.  As host agency, JMU has been extremely helpful and generous in working with the Virginia Department of Education to establish and support the Region 5 Center.

It is the hope of the staff from the Center that this website provides an overview of the many services available to school divisions located within Region 5, as well as services available from the Virginia Department of Education and other regional school divisions.  Please contact this Center for any additional information.
