Critical Infrastructure Protection
The Critical Infrastructure Protection Project (CIP Project) is a joint effort of George Mason University and James Madison University to develop a nationally recognized program that fully integrates the disciplines of law, policy, and technology for enhancing the security of cyber networks and economic processes supporting the nation's critical infrastructures. The consideration of all three disciplines--law, policy, and technology--is what makes the CIP Project unique. The CIP Project is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Guaranteed Admission Agreements with The Virginia Community College System, Southside Virginia Community College, and Danville Community College
These alliances were jointly submitted by the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, University Planning in support of defining characteristics 4, 22 and 27. The alliances are formalized through very similar written agreements and are in effect until terminated. The purpose of the alliances is to facilitate the transfer of students from the partner institutions to JMU. The written agreements stipulate the conditions under which students will be guaranteed admission to JMU. The alliances provide students with an incentive to successfully complete their course of study at the community college level and provide both the students and their parents with a secure educational path to the baccalaureate level. The agreement documents the responsibilities of the partner institutions, JMU and the student.
