Assessment Workshops
The Center for Assessment and Research Studies offers workshops on a variety of assessment-related issues and topics. These workshops can be held either at the Center for Assessment and Research Studies, or at another location. The presentation portion of the workshop generally lasts for 30 minutes, leaving 30 minutes for discussion or activities.
The following workshops are available:
- The Assessment Process – We introduce to assessment, and provide an overview of the assessment process, as well as examples of well-designed assessment plans.
- Writing Goals and Objectives – We assist you in defining your program, and in explicitly describing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes students develop as a result of your program.
- Selecting Instruments – We describe what types of instruments can be used to measure student learning and development, and where one can find these instruments.
- Writing Multiple Choice Tests – We cover covers tips for creating well-written multiple choice items.
- Writing Performance Assessments and Scoring Rubrics – We describe the different types of performance assessments (e.g., oral tests, portfolios) often used in program assessment, and how to grade these assessments reliably.
- Analyzing Test Data – We will describe the basics of analyzing and interpreting test data.
