Stephanie Williams is a multimedia artist whose work navigates autobiographical narratives of identity, memory, misconception and reorientation; telling a story through its pieces rather than its whole.
Through self-directed processes of close examination and disassembly of sensorial fragments, she curates a context in which our bodies¹ amalgamated experience understands the world around us. Williams received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from JMU and her MFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design under the Presidential Scholarship. She has shown both nationally and internationally including Irvine Contemporary, the Arlington Arts Center, Transformer Gallery, and Lawrence University¹s Wriston Art Center. She has received fellowships from both the Vermont Studio Center and Toby Devan Lewis Foundation.
