Laura is an artist and designer, originally from Coastal Virginia. She received a BFA in Graphic Design from James Madison University and an MFA from Pratt Institute. Currently, she is an Instructor of Graphic Design at James Madison University.

Laura creates in linear steps, varying the length of her iterative process according to each work’s demands. In both art and design, she is interested in generative methods for personal practice. The content of Laura's work is driven by shared experiences. Each piece may be read as both a portrait of and homage to an individual. Laura presents her personal relationships to honor and question the intricate task of loving one’s neighbor as himself. This reflects the ambition of her practice: to learn to live better.

"To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God."--Ecclesiastes 5:19
