Poet Tree Poems

wicker basket hanging on a willow tree

The Arboretum has a basket around our "Poet-Tree", the willow by the pond, where you can leave a poem that might come to your mind as you walk through our trails and lawns, or while you take a break on a bench to enjoy the beauty of nature. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to participate, as from time to time we have small children who leave us their delightful poems.

Every so often, the Arboretum staff will retrieve the poems left in the basket and archive them online. You can browser through our collection of poems below.

In addition, the Arboretum hosts the National Poetry Month program with the Furious Flower Poetry Center where attendees bring poems they have composed for the event.

If you would like to leave us a poem the next time you visit, please do, as we'd like to read it.

Poems are not altered in any manner and are presented exactly as written by authors. Misspellings are not typographical or spelling errors of arboretum content managers.
