Court-Referred Community Service Form

We accept Court-Referred Community Service volunteers giving 40 hours minimum time; exceptions made for returning volunteers. Days available for work at the arboretum are Tuesday through Fridays with no after business hours weekdays and no weekends.

Orientations for new Court-Referred Community Service volunteers are held twice monthly in the Frances Plecker Education Center. One Orientation is on the second Tuesday of every month at 10:30 in the morning. Another Orientation is available the last Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. Orientation attendance is necessary before volunteering may begin. Don't forget to mark your calendar!

If court deadline prevents timely completion of 40 or more hours after the next soonest orientation date, please find another agency accepting Court-Referred Community Service volunteers.

Please note:

If you are unable to work a scheduled 8:00 am shift, send an email to Lisa Bauer, bauerla@jmu.edu by 6:00 am the date of the scheduled 8:00 am shift.

If you are unable to work a scheduled 10:30 am or 1:00 pm shift, phone (540) 568-3194 a half hour in advance (minimum) of shift time and date.

Without timely absence notice by email or phone, volunteers who are no-shows to two work shifts will be released. The arboretum staff thanks you for your professional absence notice courtesy!

I hereby verify that I have no known medical condition which would impair my ability to participate as a landscape volunteer. I further authorize and grant permission to treat to first responder(s) to save life, limb, or physical well-being, should medical treatment be necessary and authorization be required, should I be incapacitated during the activity.
