Course Required Volunteer Form

If you are to volunteer at the arboretum for a course requirement, please fill out this form on the right with your information and course information. Days available for work at the arboretum are Tuesday through Fridays with no after business hours weekdays and no weekends.

Orientations for new volunteers are held twice monthly in the Frances Plecker Education Center. One Orientation is on the second Tuesday of every month at 10:30 in the morning. Another Orientation is available the last Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. Orientation attendance is necessary before volunteering may begin. Don't forget to mark your calendar!

Please note:

If you are unable to work a scheduled 8:00 am shift, send an email to Lisa Bauer, bauerla@jmu.edu by 6:00 am the date of the scheduled 8:00 am shift.

If you are unable to work a scheduled 10:30 am or 1:00 pm shift, phone (540) 568-3194 a half hour in advance (minimum) of shift time and date.

Without timely absence notice by email or phone, volunteers who are no-shows to two work shifts will be released. The arboretum staff thanks you for your professional absence notice courtesy!

Shifts start at 8:00 AM, 10:30 AM, and 1:00 PM, business weekdays, Tuesday through Friday. Please select the shifts you will attend, and for which days. No weekends or after-business-hours shifts are available. Each shift signed up for must be worked a minimum of 2 hours.
