The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum at JMU
Presents an exhibit of watercolors by
Joyce Ellis Overby
November 1—December 31, 2017
8:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays in the Frances Plecker Education Center
Growing up on a farm in rural Virginia, Joyce spent a great deal of time observing and exploring the natural world. Marriage and a career in nursing followed, but her love for nature continued and she began drawing and studied watercolor privately and at JMU. She also studied painted furniture finishing and had her own business, Classic Finishes, until 2000. In 2013, she and her husband down-sized and moved into a home on the South River. Back in the environment of her childhood, surrounded by nature’s beauty, Joyce once again picked up her watercolor brush. Her beautifully detailed paintings often feature botanicals and insects.
Stop into the Education Center at the EJC Arboretum, weekdays, and business hours.
