Yellow-breasted Chat — Icteria virens

This warbler is larger (~2 inches longer) than others in the United States. It has a bright yellow throat and breast with a white belly. The back is olive colored. It has a distinctive white “eye spectacle”. The female is duller in color. This bird is secretive and often skulking in the underbrush. It breeds in dense thickets and brushy edges throughout a large portion of the United States. It is noted for its grating "chack" call note.
