Carolina Chickadee — Poecile carolinensis

Order Passeriformes
Family Paridae
Genus Poecile
Species Carolinensis
The Carolina Chickadee is very similar to the Black-capped Chickadee, Poecile atricapillus, and is known to hybridize with them where summer ranges meet. The Carolina Chickadee has a tiny body with a large head that gives it a notable round silhouette. Its cap and bib are black with a white auricular region.
