Canada Goose — Branta canadensis

Order Anseriformes
Family Anatidae
Genus Branta
Species canadensis

The most common goose in North America. Note the black head and neck that contrasts strikingly with the pale gray breast and white chin patch on the side of the head. Flocks travel in long strings in V formation. The Canada goose is seen on streams, ponds, rivers, marshes and fields throughout the area. It also nests near water in most of these locations.
