JMU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION LEGACY SCHOLARSHIPS
A legacy student is defined as any student whose parents or grandparents have graduated from JMU. Applications will be distributed to eligible students the week of May 5 and will be due May 23.

  • Two scholarships are annually awarded and are renewable for up to four years if the recipient remains in good academic standing (open to any incoming legacy freshman).
  • Multiple (approx. 27-30) one-time legacy scholarships are awarded to incoming legacy freshman that are Virginia residents. These scholarships are funded by the sale of JMU Virginia state license plates.

Alumni Chapter of Philadelphia
The scholarship is intended to benefit an admitted first year student, from the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter region, who will attend JMU in the fall. The scholarship will be administered from the JMU Office of Alumni Relations. The Office of Alumni Relations will e-mail an application to all qualified students. Those applications that are completed and returned will be submitted to the JMU Alumni Chapter of Philadelphia. The chapter will select the winner based on merit not financial need.

Black Alumni Chapter
This scholarship is intended to benefit under-represented students entering the University as first-year students. The scholarship is awarded based on merit and any additional factors the Scholarship Selection Committee deem important. Timeline: This scholarship is intended to be awarded in both the fall and spring semesters, with at least one scholarship awarded to an early admitted student.

If you have questions about any of the scholarships or would like to make a donation, please contact the JMU Office of Alumni Relations at 888.JMU.ALUM.
