Put up you Dukes

For the JMU Centennial celebration, uniquely painted versions of the Duke Dog Statue will be on display throughout JMU and Harrisonburg. The JMU Alumni Association has three Duke Dogs in honor of our alumni on display in the Leeolou Alumni Center. Read about the Duke Dog statues


As a revenue sharing plate, $15 of the $25 annual DMV fee is transferred to JMU for legacy scholarships. Put your pride where it counts. Get a JMU plate on your bumper today!

How to purchase your plate

Have your credit card, title number and vehicle ID number ready

  1. Visit the Virginia Dept. of Motor Vehicles Web site  
  2. Scroll through the list of available plates until you find the college listings. Select the James Madison University plate you want.
  3. Select a personalized message or have the DMV assign you a standard number
  4. Click on the "purchase plate now" link at the bottom of the page.

Yes.

How many characters are available on personalized plate message?
Six.

Is there a plate fee (in addition to standard registration)?
Yes, $25.00 annually, $15 of which goes to JMU for Legacy Scholarships. 

Is there a fee for personalized plates (in addition to plate fees)?
Yes, $10.00 annually.

Are disabled plates available?
Yes.

Are JMU plates available in other states?
As of now, only in Maryland. Contact Dixon Wood ('82) for a Maryland JMU plate application: dlwood@alumni.jmu.edu or (410) 956-2166.

Volunteer Spotlight Kelly Warren ('00)

In April, Kelly Warren (’00) led the Richmond Alumni Chapter team in the Monument 10K, raising more than $7,500 for the Massey Cancer center.
