8.4: Charlottesville, Va.

Freshman Send-off Picnic
About 35 students, parents and JMU volunteers came out to represent the University at the FIRST-EVER Charlottesville Freshman Send-Off Picnic! A HUGE JMU THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who came. The parents and students loved having one-on-one time with so many alumni, employees and current students. And of course, special thanks go out to Charlottesville Alumni Chapter President Will Tragert, for his hard work in helping set up this picnic - hopefully it will become an annual tradition!

8.6: Fairfax, Va.

Meeting with new JMUAA Board Member
Ashley and Gina hit the road on Wednesday to meet with one of our newest JMUAA Board members, Donna Honneywell of Vienna, VA over coffee at Panera. We are excited to welcome Donna to the Board, as she brings years of experience as an educator and is ready to serve as an ambassador of JMU! Welcome to the team, Donna!

Meeting with George Mason Alumni Affairs staff
While in the area, Ashley and Gina also had the opportunity to meet with the George Mason Alumni Affairs staff, led by JMU alumna and Associate Vice President for Alumni Affairs, Christine Clark-Talley. Even though Christine's office is covered in those "other colors", you can still see her purple heart in her passion for all things alumni!

Fairfax Freshman Send-Off Picnic
The last stop of the evening was to join more than 300 incoming JMU freshmen and their families for the Fairfax send-off picnic, hosted by Parent Relations and their local Parents Council members.Incoming students and families were able to ask questions, meet current JMU students and staff, and begin the process of bleeding purple with all the palpable JMU spirit in the air. Most impressively, Ashley led the entire group in their first official singing of the JMU Fight Song....."We are the Dukes of JMU!!!!"

Just another successful day in the lives of your JMU Alumni Relations team!
