Senior Events 2013
What’s better than free food, a beautiful view and JMU spirit? Join the Student Government Association and the Alumni Association for all three at this year’s senior class picnic. No RSVP necessary.
This long-standing Madison tradition dates back to 1912, when the second graduating class at the State Normal & Industrial School for Women celebrated their commencement with an induction ceremony into the alumnae association. More than 100 years later, the alumni candle lighting ceremony serves as a bridge between our undergraduate years to the next chapters of our lives as JMU alumni.
Sponsored by the JMU Alumni Association, this event is a milestone in your JMU career, and includes a special appearance from members of the Madison College Class of 1963, who are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Dress is casual. The programs includes a dessert reception, brief program and the delivery of your senior gift, courtesy of the JMU Alumni Association. RSVP is required
JMU student donors unite at this reception at the Leeolou Alumni Center, where JMU President Jonathan Alger will thank you for making an investment in JMU’s future. Food and beverage will be provided. RSVP is required
Join your fellow graduating campus leaders for a reception in the Great Room of the Leeolou Alumni Center, featuring guest speaker, alum, senior vice president and leadership expert Dr. Mark Warner. This will also be a wonderful opportunity to network with other senior leaders from Greek life, student organizations and sports clubs and learn how to get involved with the JMU Alumni Association after graduation. In honor of your service to JMU and your graduation, the JMU Alumni Association will offer hors d’oeuvres and refreshments along with a special senior gift. This event is by invitation only, and RSVP is necessary
Join your fellow graduating seniors for a special ceremony in honor of your graduation from James Madison University. The keynote address will be delivered by Mike Rayburn (’86), creative artist, motivational speaker and JMU graduate. A world-class musician and innovative entertainer, Rayburn -- a regular performer at New York’s Carnegie Hall -- uses his astounding creations and presentational muscle to inspire and challenge his audiences to leap beyond their perceived limitations. No RSVP is necessary.
After convocation, join the JMU Alumni Association on the concourse level of the Convocation Center for a senior reception with President Jonathan Alger. The reception will include dessert. Get your picture taken with the president and receive a special gift from the JMU Alumni Association. All seniors present at convocation are encouraged to attend. No RSVP is necessary.
