This site and the Tidewater alumni chapter
are all about connecting YOU!
There are over 3,000 JMU alums living in Tidewater,
the 3rd largest population outside of Harrisonburg. Our
vision is to create a valued resource for all Tidewater alums by
providing opportunities to identify, develop, and strengthen our
local alumni network.
SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE
Tidewater Alumni --- let's BE THE CHANGE and provide an example
to our fellow alums of giving. As widely known, JMU alums are
notorious poor givers, as the overwhelming majority, 90% don't give
back. Our counterparts throughout the commonwealth put us to shame
giving at double our rate or more. The Tidewater Chapter is in the
midst of a 4-year campaign to endow a $25,0000 scholarship by JMU's
Centennial, in 2008 and with less than 2 years to go, we've still
got more than half, $15,000 to raise. What a great opportunity that
we, the Tidewater Chapter, have to encourage fellow alums to give
through our example. Just think, if even half of all 3,000 alums in
our area gave just $10 towards our goal, not only would that 50%
shatter the previous alumni giving rate of 10%, but our endowment
would be fulfilled, allowing us to begin awarding our scholarship 2
years ahead of schedule! I encourage you all to join me to BE THE
