Attention JMU Alumni!

Here's an opportunity to join other JMU grads while helping a local non-profit!

Come Run for READ!!

The READ Center's annual fundraiser, the Run for READ, is October 21st at 9:00 a.m. at Tredegar Ironworks.

Register for the 8k run or the 1 mile fun walk: the course begins at Tredegar Ironworks and continues along Brown's Island, the Canal Walk, the flood wall, and across Belle Island.

The cost is $23 per person prior to October 1st; $28 per person after October 1st.

Forming a team is easy and can be done online at www.runforread.org.  Let's show everyone our JMU pride!  Prizes will be awarded for both the largest team and the team with the most spirit.

For more information, please contact Xenia Murphy, class of 1999, at xenia_k@hotmail.com.

The READ Center was founded in 1982 and its mission is to help low level reading adults develop basic reading and communication skills through one-on-one tutoring so they can fulfill their goals and their roles as citizens, workers, and family members. READ students are adults that lack basic reading and writing skills and come to The READ Center with specific goals, such as being able to read to their children, fill out a job application, or simply read a menu or medicine label.
