Monument Avenue 10k

Join the Richmond Dukes Monument 10K Team!

Are registered to run/walk in the Ukrop’s Monument 10K race?  If so, it’s not too late to join our Richmond Dukes 10K Team, and help us collect donations for the Massey Cancer Center!  Our chapter knows how important it is to give back to the Richmond community, and we are excited to be involved in the Massey Team Challenge!  We are still working hard to meet (and hopefully surpass) our goal of $5,000.  However, we still need your help.  Our team is open to any JMU alum and friend/family who would like to be involved.

As a bonus, each team member who raises money will receive a free Massey Cancer Center race day shirt with our personalized “Richmond Dukes Against Cancer” logo (pick-up/drop-off TBA)!

If you are not participating in the event, but would like to donate to this wonderful cause, you can still help!

Details:

Are you planning on watching the Ukrop’s Monument 10K? If so, come join other JMU alums, friends and family at the home of Mike Drechsler (’92).  He has graciously offered his home for this event, which is right on the race course, so that spectators can enjoy the race and mingle with other JMU alums!

Light breakfast foods and tasty beverages (including Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s) will be provided by your Richmond Alumni Chapter.  In addition to the purple and gold that will decorate Mike’s front lawn, we hope that you all will wear your best JMU garb so that our own Richmond Dukes Monument 10K Team will see all of their supporters as they run/walk by!

The first runners typically pass by Mike’s house around 8:15 am, so it is a good idea to plan accordingly and get there early.  Be sure to check the race website (Course/Parking Info) for area street closings.  Free public parking is available on neighboring side streets.

Space is limited to approximately 30-40 people.  To RSVP, please contact Kelly Warren (’00) at jmu_richmond_alumni@yahoo.com.
