Tom Byrne ('92) Memorial

Virginia's Children of Promise Mentoring Program
Would you like to be a friend, a coach and a role model to a child?

Virginia's Children of Promise (VCOP) is a federally funded mentoring program for children ages 4-15 with an incarcerated parent. The program serves children throughout all of Northern Virginia. Adults, especially males, are needed to serve as volunteers for a minimum of an hour a week for a year to mentor a child. Each mentor is screened, trained and supervised throughout their time as a mentor with VCOP.

Research proves that children improve their grades and behavior at school and reduce truancy when they are mentored by a positive adult role model.

If you are interested, contact Jeanne Bott ('98), Mentor Coordinator directly at 703.941.9008 x13 or jbott@umfs.org at the UMFS Northern Virginia Regional Center.

You can make a difference in your community today.
