<h3 class="purple_fade_box"><strong>Fiscal Year End Closing FY 2009/2010</strong><span style="font-size: .8em; color: #999;">&nbsp; - Monday,&nbsp;June&nbsp;28</span></h3>
<p>As we approach June 30, 2010 and the end of Fiscal Year 2009/2010, please bring any gifts, payments, gift in kind, and credit card transactions to Advancement Gifts and Records, 220 University Blvd, Suite 1100, as they are received.</p>

<p class="categoryitems">For auditing and accounting purposes, we will record year end gifts in June based on the postmarked date.&nbsp; Please include the envelope with checks sent to Advancement Gifts and Records.&nbsp; Online credit card gifts will be recorded based on the transaction date of the web gift. Credit cards received by phone or delivered to Advancement Gifts and Records must be received by 2PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 to be included in FY 2009/2010.&nbsp; Gifts postmarked after July 1, 2010 will be recorded in the new fiscal year.<br /><br /> It is anticipated that all gifts postmarked June 30, 2010 will be recorded by Noon, July 9, 2010 and we will begin the end of year processes switching the system to the new Fiscal Year 2010/2011.&nbsp; Viking access will be prohibited as we run these processes.&nbsp; It is anticipated that this will be completed by the end of day on Friday, July 9, 2010.&nbsp; You will be notified when the process has finished and the Viking system is available for use.</p>

Outside of normal office hours (8am-5pm, Monday-Friday), there is a secure drop-box attached to the wall by the main entrance that may be used.

Debit/Credit Cards.
May be submitted 24/7 on our secure giving website or by calling (540) 568-2821 during office hours.

Employee Payroll Deduction.
Complete a payroll deduction form and mail to MSC 3603.

Gift-in-Kind.
Gifts in Kind typically involve tangible personal property which may include such things as art, books, and equipment. For further details on making a donation of this type please vist the JMU Foundation Giving Opportunities site.

Stock/Securities.
An alternative to cash is a gift of appreciated securities, which can offer donors greater tax-wise advantages than gifts of cash or other resources. For further details on making a donation of this type please vist the JMU Foundation Giving Opportunities site.

Planned giving.
Contact our Planned Giving Office about including JMU in your estate plan or to find out about other creative planned giving options.

Organizations match donations and volunteer hours. After a donation has been made (or the volunteer hours have been completed) the donor/volunteer obtains their employer’s matching gift form and submits it to The Office of Matching Gifts at:

If your employer uses an online system, you need to email a copy of your confirmation notice to matchgifts@jmu.edu so that it can be verified by JMU.

When JMU receives the matching donation we send an acknowledgement card to the donor.

The Office of Data Analysis and Reporting processes requests from the Advancement database. To make a report request click here.

Training is mandatory for access to the system. Once you have completed training, access is requested through the Advancement Training Coordinator. Click here to download the User Security Access Form. Once completed, follow the instructions on how to submit the request. The Constituent database consists of alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations and donors. Biographical information such as name, address, phone, career, and family relationship data is maintained on all alumni of JMU. Donor information such as gift date, amount, and purpose is maintained on all gifts received for the JMU Foundation for the purpose of record keeping and receipting.
