Preparing for Success in the Major

Go to class. Regular class attendance is essential.

Maintain your grades. Your GPA is important for full admission to the major and for your continued academic progress. Visit your professors during office hours if you have questions about class content.

Talk to your academic adviser. Meet with your academic adviser well in advance of pre-registration to re-assess your academic plan and review graduation requirements.

Use learning resource centers for additional help. Click here for a complete list of Learning Resource Centers.

Take advantage of support services. Make an appointment with a counselor in the Counseling and Student Development Center, located in Varner House, if you are experiencing emotional distress or performance anxiety (Phone: (540) 568-6552).
