Senior Vice President

July 2008

This is a wonderful time to be associated with James Madison University. We experienced an enormous outpouring of pride among alumni and friends during our wonderful year-long centennial celebration in 2007 and 2008; student applications to the university are at an all-time high and accolades for Madison continue to collect; awesome new building projects are transforming campus into a world-class institution. It’s an exciting time.

Most significantly, however, the university’s first comprehensive capital campaign “The Madison Century” just wrapped up on June 30. And while we’re still closing the books on the fundraising totals, the good news is that every goal we set was smashed. Alumni and friends of the university have shown that a culture of philanthropy – a new sprit of involvement after graduation – a commitment to giving back to Madison – has begun to flourish. This is very promising news and it is our role in University Advancement to cultivate this trend.

Again, whether you’re a student, parent, alumnus, employee or considering joining the JMU community, this is a wonderful time to be associated with the James Madison University.
