Portfolio Credit Appeal Procedure
|
The purpose of the Portfolio Credit Appeal Procedure is to provide
students receiving an assessment of prior learning credit with a process to
appeal the credit evaluation.
A student who wishes to appeal a portfolio credit evaluation must do
so by the last day of classes of the next regular session and must follow the
steps of this procedure in the order listed:
Confer with the faculty member conducting the review.
The student should state at this conference the reason or reasons
on which the request for a change of credit is based. At this meeting the
faculty member has the obligation to explain to the student the basis for
determining the amount of credit which the student was awarded.
If the faculty member does not feel that a change in the amount of
credit is warranted, the student may then appeal, in the following order,
to the:
Head of the department or director of the school in which the faculty member is
located
Director of the Adult Degree
Program
Dean of the College of Education and
Psychology
Vice President for Academic
Affairs
At each level of appeal there is the responsibility to confer with
the faculty member who may be required to review the basis used in
determining the amount of credit which was awarded to the student.
Upon agreement to a credit change at any level of appeal, the
faculty member initiates and initials the change on the original
"Assessment and Evaluation of Experiential Learning" form.
