My Advice to High School Students: I think it's great when students choose to move away from home for their college experience. You will end up meeting other students from all over the country, and you get to learn about a new culture and area of the US. It may be really scary at first, but it is totally worth it. I also encourage you to pursue your passions, not only in the classroom, but outside of it as well. You will meet new people and learn more about yourself by joining clubs or sports teams, or by working at a job on campus. I actually ended up changing my major to Communication Studies since being a campus tour guide helped me realize how much I love public speaking and interacting with different groups of people.

If you have not been to JMU as a prospective student, I would encourage you to plan a visit to attend an information session and take a guided tour of our beautiful campus.
