Why I chose to attend JMU: Several of my close cousins attended JMU in the late 70's and mid-80's. After visiting them several times and attending their graduations, JMU always left a lasting impression with me. So, when it came time for me to research colleges I did not have to look very hard because JMU was my #1 choice. From the day of my first visit to now as an employee of JMU, I have never questioned my choice in universities. It is an overall friendly, safe and enriching place to be. Everyone smiles and everyone speaks and says, "Hello"!
What JMU means to me: It is a sea of happiness and eternal growth in the midst of an enriching valley. I learned a lot at JMU and it was not until the last few year when I realized just the impact JMU has had on my life. It has made me a person who is not only confident and strives for success but one who is extremely motivated and concerned about the welfare of and access to others. JMU has prepared and developed me beyond my wildest dreams.
Advice to students selecting a college: Start researching and applying early. If you know were you want to be do not hesitate to apply. Secondly, seek and apply for as many outside scholarships as possible. Do not hesitate to apply.
