Welcome to P.A.W.S.

P.A.W.S. (Proudly Assisting & Welcoming Students) is a group of JMU students who volunteer with the Office of Admissions throughout the year.  We understand that the campus visit plays an essential role in the perceptions that prospective students have about our campus and believe that everyone visiting JMU should have the best possible experience.  Therefore, we are committed to providing visiting students and their families with a more engaged, more personal visit to campus.

2023-24 Membership

We are seeking students who are interested in working with Admissions at events we offer for prospective students and their families throughout the year. These events include:



  • Open Houses
  • Spring Preview Days (high school Junior visit days)
  • Scholarship banquets
  • CHOICES Admitted Student Open Houses
  • Large visitation days
The P.A.W.S. application is currently closed.

What it takes to be a member of P.A.W.S.

Volunteers will greet visitors, assist with guest check-in, answer questions about JMU, direct visitors to the correct campus resource, and generally support Admissions staff.

This volunteer position requires P.A.W.S. members to become extremely knowledgeable and resourceful and learn how to identify answers/solutions to visitors’ inquiries. 

We are looking for JMU students that are engaged in campus life and activities so that they can pass along their JMU knowledge and school spirit to prospective students!  Come join us to learn more about this opportunity to serve JMU, future JMU students, and the Office of Admissions.  You could make the difference in someone making the BEST decision of their lives to attend JMU!
