Absent from one semester to two years…
…you must submit an Intent to Enroll form and a personal statement citing the reasons for departure and describing your activities while you were away from JMU to the Office of Academic Student Services. The Intent to Enroll form must be submitted prior to the beginning of your anticipated semester of return by the deadlines listed below. A committee chaired by the Director of Academic Student Services will determine whether or not you may re-enroll and if so, whether you must meet certain conditions.
Absent for two or more calendar years…
…you must re-apply through the Office of Academic Student Services. Submit an Undergraduate Re-Entry Form, a one page personal statement citing the reasons for departure and interim activities, and unofficial transcripts reflecting all college or university courses attempted during your absence from JMU prior to the beginning of your anticipated semester of return by the deadlines listed below.
Students who leave JMU on Academic Probation or Suspension may not enroll as "special students" through the Office of Outreach and Engagement.
