The Task Force on Information Technology has been given the charge to develop recommendations that help define and provide a focus for the future IT programs at James Madison University.

The IT Task Force members plan to develop and present recommendations to the academic community that emerge after receiving extensive, broad-based input; engaging in an open process with multiple opportunities for dialogue and debate. The IT Task Force intends to conduct a careful review of existing programs; complete an analysis of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as well as the expertise, trends and available resources; and to present recommendations for future programs which are consistent with the Criteria for Targeting Potential Programs.

Recommendations may be of varied types, including such areas as:

  • New academic programs (courses, emphases, concentrations, minors, majors, etc.)
  • Mechanisms to promote interdisciplinary programs and centers.

Currently the task force is soliciting ideas and input from the James Madison University community regarding the manner in which IT related academic programs at James Madison University can best support the university mission. An input form will be available in the near future on this web site. Prior to that time, you can send your suggestions to any member of the task force.

During the early part of the spring semester, after completing our assessment and having considered all of the input received, the IT Task Force will develop and disseminate proposed recommendations and seek additional input before finalizing and submitting our recommendations to the academic community by the end of March, 2000.

We look forward to your input into this important process.
