Call for Nominations
 
The Division of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the annual Provost Award for Excellence in Global Education. This award of $1,000 recognizes one JMU faculty or professional staff member who has made a significant contribution in the area of global education through research, study abroad, service-learning, curriculum design, work with international students, and/or other relevant activities. Nominations are reviewed on the basis of all of the following criteria:

•  Demonstrable commitment to global education

            e.g., long-term and overarching commitment to international/global learning experiences for students through research, coursework, and/or study abroad

•  Impact on the university community
            e.g., the implementation of a new program with an international/global focus, cross-divisional projects with an international/global focus

•  Creativity, scope and/or reach of global activities
            e.g., the development of an innovative course with an international/global focus, the development of a symposium or conference with an international focus

•  Degree of collaboration within and outside the university
            e.g., interdisciplinary courses or research projects, work with international agencies or institutions

All faculty and professional staff are eligible to be nominated. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Please include detailed information regarding the nominee’s research, service, teaching, outreach, programming and/or other relevant international/global activities.
 
Please forward your nomination (no more than 500 words), nominee’s C.V. and nominee contact information to JY Zhou, Executive Director, Center for Global Engagement, at cge@jmu.edu or MSC 5731. The award will be presented in the spring at an event honoring all Provost Award recipients.
 
Nominations are due to JY Zhou by Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
