Live Love LifeSpan: Empowering Developmentally Disabled Children and Adults in Innovative Ways

Location: Charlotte, NC

Focus on: Community Wellness

Description:

LifeSpan is an organization that prides itself in its core values - Social Responsibility, Accountability and Personal Commitment - in order to empower those who are in need of additional assistance in living, working, and playing in their communities. Participants will be implementing these values by working with people of all ages with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Whether it be educating children through arts and crafts or reading, or mentoring adults by providing "into the workplace" support such as etiquette and manners, participants will use their interpersonal and leadership skills to be a positive role model in the lives of a diverse group of people. Activities will vary daily, but possible responsibilities may include assisting in classrooms, sharing life skills, and aiding in the organization of social and fundraising events. Participants will make new friends and become an advocate by making a difference in the lives of many children and adults.
