Focus on: Animal Welfare

Mid Atlantic Border Collie Rescue is a “haven” for dogs that have turned away from shelters that have been abandoned, or discarded.  In past years, our major project which we received a project grant for was building a fence. Since the agency is located on a 10-acre farm, and their fence hadn't been replaced in 15 years, it was important that a new fence was built in order to provide a safe and functional environment for the rescue dogs. As a group, we worked together to measure out and plant fence posts and support poles, and then attached a metal fence to the framework. This project took a lot of planning, time, and effort, but we could tell that it would positively impact the agency. We were able to make braided dog toys out of fleece that could be sold through MABCR as a fundraising tool. This was super fun and we were glad we could participate in something that would raise them a lot of money. We also did miscellaneous tasks around the farm, specifically feeding sheep, cleaning up the grounds, and cleaning the kennels. This trip will consist of a lot of work around the shelter and a ton of puppy kisses.
