Break Description

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans area and although there have been major efforts to alleviate the disastrous effects, residents are still rebuilding the community 10 years later. While in NOLA we will be working with Lower Nine, a non-profit organization that focuses on repairing and rebuilding homes in the Lower 9th Ward, an impoverished community that was hit the hardest and has had the slowest recovery. Lower Nine has fully rebuilt 83 homes in addition to completing hundreds of home repairs, however, the community has yet to make a full recovery.  While in NOLA, we’ll be doing hands on work rebuilding, repairing, and learning about the community and the impact that hurricane Katrina had on the lives of those that live in it. Come on this break and help make a lasting difference in the lives of those affected!
