Men's Basketball: Dukes Move to 4-1 with 79-72 Win Over Sacred Heart

HARRISONBURG, Va. - After leading Sacred Heart by as many as 21 points in the first half, the James Madison basketball team held off a furious charge from the Pioneers to earn a 79-72 victory in the Buckeye Classic on Wednesday afternoon at the JMU Convocation Center.
The James Madison softball program has signed five players to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period, Head Coach Mickey Dean announced today. The quintet of softball student-athletes consists of Kennedy Beach (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City), Jenny Behan (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic), Paige Mitchell (Doswell, Va./Patrick Henry), Jackie Tremain (Manakin-Sabot, Va./Goochland) and Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va./Essex).

This is the ninth overall meeting between No. RV/23 JMU and No. 10/8 Maryland. The Terps have won each of the last seven meetings, the last coming Nov. 20, 2008 (90-76). JMU and Houston have met just once before, a 74-65 win for the Dukes on Jan. 2, 1988, in a neutral-court game (Miami, Fla.).

After winning its final seven regular season games to finish 2014 with a 9-3 record and third-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, James Madison is headed to the FCS Playoffs! The Dukes will welcome the Liberty Flames on Saturday, November 29 at 4 p.m. for the first home playoff game at Bridgeforth Stadium since 2008. While Coach Withers and his staff work hard to secure a win for JMU Nation, here's a look at a few keys to victory for the Dukes this weekend.
